Sayings of Prophet Muhammad
may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him

Love, Care and Concern for Muslims

Love Muslims

Hadrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) relates that the Holy Prophet Muhammad (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him) said: “A person cannot be a perfect Muslim unless he desires for his brother (in Faith) that which he desires for himself.” (Bukhari and Muslim)

Hadrat Abu Musa al-Ash‘ari (may Allah be pleased with him), relates that the Holy Prophet Muhammad (may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him) said: “The bonds (of brotherhood) between Muslims are like parts of a house; one part strengthens and holds another”. He crossed the fingers of one hand between those of the other (to illustrate the point). (Bukhari and Muslim)

Hadrat Nu‘man bin Bashir (may Allah be pleased with him), relates that the Holy Prophet Muhammad (may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him), said: “The Muslims, in their mutual love, kindness and compassion are like the human body: when one of its parts is in agony, the entire body feels the pain, both in sleeplessness and fever”. (Bukhari and Muslim)

Help the Muslims

Hadrat Abu Sa‘ad (may Allah be pleased with him) reported Allah's Prophetic Messenger (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him) as saying, “If any Muslim clothes a Muslim when he is naked, Allah (The Glorified and The Exalted) will clothe him with some of the green garments of Paradise; if any Muslim feeds a Muslim when he is hungry, Allah (The Glorified and The Exalted) will feed him with some of the fruits of Paradise; and if any Muslim gives a Muslim something to drink when he is thirsty, Allah (The Glorified and The Exalted) will give him (in Paradise) some of the pure sealed wine to drink.” (Abu Dawud and Tirmidhi)

Muslims are brothers

On the authority of Hadrat Abu Hurayra (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him) said:

Do not envy one another; do not inflate prices one to another; do not hate one another; do not turn away from one another; and do not undercut one another, but be you, O servants of Allah, brothers. A Muslim is the brother of a Muslim: he neither oppresses him nor does he fail him, he neither lies to him nor does he hold him in contempt. Piety is right here - and he pointed to his breast three times. It is evil enough for a man to hold his brother Muslim in contempt. The whole of a Muslim for another Muslim is inviolable: his blood, his property, and his honour. (Muslim)

Do not desert a Muslim brother

Narrated Hadrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that Allah's Prophetic Messenger (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him), said, “Do not hate one another, nor be jealous of one another; and do not desert one another, but O Allah's worshippers! Be Brothers! And it is unlawful for a Muslim to desert his brother Muslim (and not to talk to him) for more than three nights.” (Bukhari)

Islam emancipated slaves and made them leaders

Narrated Hadrat Ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him): Hadrat Salim (may Allah be pleased with him), the freed slave of Hadrat Abu Hudhayfa (may Allah be pleased with him) used to lead in Prayer the early Muhajirin (Emigrants) and the Companions of the Prophet (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him) in the masjid of Quba. Among those (who used to pray behind him) were Sayyidina Abu Bakr, Sayyidina ‘Umar, Hadrat Abu Salama, Hadrat Zayd, and Hadrat ‘Amir bin Rabi‘a (may Allah be pleased with them). (Bukhari)

The Example of the Muhajirin and the Ansar

Narrated Hadrat Abu Hurayra (may Allah be pleased with him): The Ansar (the helping hosts of Madina) (were so generous that they) said to the Prophet, (may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him), “Please divide the date-palm trees between us and them (that is, the Muhajirin or the Emigrants from Makka).” The Prophet (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him) said, “No”. The Ansar said, “Let them (that is, the Emigrants) do the labour for us in the gardens and share the date-fruits with us.” The Emigrants said, “We accepted this.” (as they did not want things for free) (Bukhari)

International Muslim Brotherhood

Hadrat Abu Hurayra (may Allah be pleased with him) said: When we were sitting with the Prophet (may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him), Surah al-Jumu‘a was revealed. Then when the words “and others of them who have not yet joined them” (62:3) was revealed, the people asked Allah's Prophetic Messenger who they were. Hadrat Salman al-Farisi (may Allah be pleased with him) was among us, and placing his hand on Hadrat Salman (may Allah be pleased with him), the Prophet said, "If faith were in the Pleiades some of these men would attain it.” (Bukhari and Muslim)

The Example of Prophet Muhammad (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him)

Hadrat Abu Hurayra (may Allah be pleased with him) said that a black woman (or a youth) used to sweep the masjid. Allah's Messenger (may Allah be pleased with him) missed her, and when he asked about her (or him) the people told him that she had died. He asked why they had not informed him, and it appeared as if they had treated her (or him) as of little account. He asked the people to lead him to the grave, and when they did so, he prayed over her and then said, “These graves are full of darkness for their occupants, but Allah (The Glorified and The Exalted) will illuminate them for them by reason of my prayer over them.” (Bukhari and Muslim, the wording being Muslim’s)
