MUSLIM MARTYRS OF THE BATTLE OF YAMĀMA

Many Sahāba (Companions), may Allāh be pleased with them, laid down their lives in defeating Musaylamah the Liar in the Battle of Yamāma in the year 11 A.H / 633 C.E. Quite a number of them were Huffāz al-Qur’ān, those who had memorized the whole Qur’ān by heart. The names of some of the Sahāba who were martyred (in alphabetical order according to the Arabic alphabet) are:

Hadrat Thābit bin Qays bin Shammās

Hadrat Zayd bin al-Khattāb al-Badrī

Hadrat as-Sā’ib ‘Uthmān bin Maz‘ūn al-Badrī

Hadrat Sālim mawlā Abū Hudhayfah al-Badrī

Hadrat Shujā‘ bin Wahb al-Badrī

Hadrat Tufayl bin ‘Amr ad-Dawsī

Hadrat ‘Āmir bin al-Bukayr al-Badrī

Hadrat ‘Abbād bin Bishr al-Badrī

Hadrat ĀbdAllāh bin Sahl

Hadrat ‘AbdAllāh bin Makhramah al-Badrī

Hadrat Mālik bin ‘Amr as-Sulamī al-Badrī

Hadrat Ma‘n bin ‘Adiyy al-Badrī

Hadrat Yazīd bin Qays

Hadrat Abū Hudhayfah bin ‘Utbah al-Badrī

Hadrat Abū Dujānah Simāk bin Kharashah al-Badrī

Rady Allāhu ‘Anhum (may Allāh be pleased with them all).

Hadrat Habīb bin Zayd bin ‘Āsim Rady Allāhu ‘Anhu was martyred before the Battle of Yamāma. Musaylamah the Liar had him cut up limb by limb and killed for refusing to acknowledge his false claim that he was a prophet. You can’t hold back your tears when you hear such horrendous stories.

Explanatory Note

Al-Badrī indicates that the Sahābī was also a warrior of the Battle of Badr in 2 A.H.

Hadrat ‘AbdAllāh bin Sahl has also been mentioned as Hadrat ‘AbdAllāh bin Suhayl bin ‘Amr al-Badrī in other texts.
