Iqra Essay Writing Competition

As-Salaamu alaikum,

I am checking out your site for the first time. I am also interested in writing essays. But I want more information about it. How can I participate? What is the topic of the essay? What is the prize and what's the deadline?

I'll be thankful to receive your reply soon. So that i can also enhance my essay writing abilities.

Masooma

Wa 'alaykum-us-Salam,

Surely it is a good idea to increase your essay writing skills. We wish you luck.

We have essay and quiz competitions for both juniors and seniors. The age group for juniors is 7 to 12 years and for seniors 13 to 17 years. The essay topic this time for both groups is "Why I love the month of Ramadan". The last date to submit entries is 2nd March 2003. You can either send your entries by post or by email.

For more information, please visit our Students webpage (www.iqra.net/muslimstudents)

The prizes are small but invaluable gifts like engraved surahs of the Qur'an or kalimas or books on Islam that are posted to the students as mementos.

With many salaams and dua,
Kassim

The Spiritual Effect of Prayer

Salam merçi pour toute . Je ne sentrais rien pendant la priere aidez s.v.p.

Salaam, thank you for everything. I do not feel anything during the prayer. Please help.

Mohamed

Wa 'alaykum-us-Salam Brother Mohamed,

'Eid Mubarak!

Increase your recitation of salawaat and salam on Rasulullah Sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam. This will increase nur (spiritual light) in you. Then you will feel the effect of the prayer, InshaAllah.

Associate yourself with a Shaykh who you recognize as a man of Allah. Some of his nur (spiritual light) will enter into you. This will light up your prayer.

Increase your recitation of the Holy Qur'an. Make it at least one juz everyday. The nur (spiritual light) of the Qur'an will enter into your heart and you will feel a special presence and pleasure in the prayer.

Decide beforehand which suras (chapters) of the Qur'an you are going to recite in the salah. After salah, if you can remember which surahs you recited, this is one indication that your prayer was performed well.

After wudu, do not use a towel to dry yourself. Let the wudu water remain on your body. It enters the pores of your body and fills it with nur (spiritual light). This brings nur (spiritual light) to your prayer.

When you pray, look at the place of prostration (sidja). This increases your concentration and presence in the prayer.

Form a habit of giving sadaqa (charity) even if half a loaf of bread. This adds to your spiritual zeal and strength.

With many salaams and dua,
Siddiq
