What I Can Do On Behalf of My Deceased Father

Dear brother or sister,
My father passed away recently. I want to know what I can do on my father's behalf. Can I fast on his behalf and give charity and what other stuff can I do for him. If you can think of anything that I can do for my father. I would be grateful if you would share this knowledge with me thank you. Salaam

Wa 'alaykum-us-Salam,
The best way to make the soul of your father happy is to acquire good character and be a pious Muslim.
The first thing to do is to find out if he left any debt and to pay those.
If he left any inheritance, that has to be distributed according to Islamic law. If he gave any wasiya (advice) that has to be followed.
If he missed any fasts due to illness or any other cause, and fidya has not yet been paid, then fidya has to be paid. The fidya for each missed fast is equivalent in value to feeding a person one meal.
It is very important to maintain family relations and to be good to kith and kin and the relatives.
It is very meritorious to give sadaqa (charity) on his name on a continuous basis like once a week or once a month even if it is half a loaf of bread. On the day of 'Id it is a good idea to give a pair of clothes to the poor and the needy.
You can also fast on his behalf and do Hajj on his behalf if you so wish, if you have already fulfilled your own fard of Hajj.
After Isha salah, recite Surah Ikhlas (Qul Huwallahu) 11 times and supplicate to Allah to give him its heavenly reward.
If possible, visit his grave once a week, preferably Thursday after Asr and supplicate to Allah to forgive him and give him a high place in Jannah, Aameen.

The Noble Qualities of Behaviour of a Muslim Woman

We are doing a school project about p.e kit and hijab. We want to know what verses of the holy qur'an talk about womans behaviour and dressing. Please could you e-mail me back as soon as you recieve this message. Allah bless you. Thank you.

Wa 'alaykum-us-Salam Sister Shaida,
The verse that talks about hijab is as follows:
"O Prophet! say to your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to draw their outer garments over themselves (when they go out); this will be more proper so that they may be recognized (as chaste) and thus they will not be molested; and Allah is Forgiving, Merciful (33:59)
As far as behavior is concerned, women are to be pure in body, heart ad soul, following the example of Sayyidah Maryam 'alayhassalam who was purified by Allah as we find in the follow verse:
"And when the angels said: O Maryam! Surely Allah has chosen and purified you and chosen you above the women of the world" (3:42)
Indeed all the four greatest women who have been mentioned in the Hadith should be emulated. They are Sayyidatina Maryam, Sayyidatina Asiya, Sayyidatina Khadija and Sayyidatina Fatima 'alayhimussalaam.
The web-page titled "The Blessed Names of Sayyidatina Fatima" (http://www.iqra.net/Fatima.php) indicate to us some of the noble qualities of behavior of Sayyidatina Fatima, Rady Allahu 'Anha.
We should know that the ordinances of Allah apply equally to men and women, that questioning in the grave will be the same, that the bridge over hellfire will have to crossed by both men and women, that both believing men and women will get to drink from the hawd (pond) of Rasulullah Sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam, and the reward in heaven for good deeds and the punishment in hell for bad deeds is the same for both men and women.
Both believing men and believing women have been equally exhorted to do good deeds and keep away from bad deeds. One relevant verse is:
"Surely Muslim men and Muslim women, and the believing men and the believing women, and the devout men and the devout women, and the truthful men and the truthful women and the patient men and the patient women, and the humble men and the humble women and the almsgiving men and the almsgiving women, and the fasting men and the fasting women, and the men who guard their chastity and the women who guard, and the men who remember Allah much and the women who remember Allah - Allah has prepared for them forgiveness and a great reward" (33:35)

The Bani 'Alawi Tariqa
Asalam alai kum
Dear brother, I would like to know the dates of Islamic months e.g 18th of June 1954, and how can I get more information about Bani Alawi tariqa. I want to find out about the Al-Aidrus ratib. I can't seem to find it. I have got the habib Imam Al-Haddad full ratib, and I would like to know if there is any body who can transliterate the Dalail ul Khayraat in Arabic for a dear friend who has just converted to Islam.
