As-Sayyid Muhammad bin Mustafa of Kenya
As-Salaamu ‘Alaykum,
I just read on your site that Habib Muhammad bin Mustafa of Kenya, the grandson of Habib Ahmad Mashhur al-Haddad, passed away. I was a bit saddened as I knew him in Kenya when I traveled there in 1998. I attended some of his durus/dhikr and spent some intimate time with him and many of the people of dhikr there. Please let me know where he is buried and any details you can provide of his death.
I would be very much interested in taking care of the manuscripts that Habib Ahmad Mashhur left behind and obtaining copies of his audio lessons. I am of the Shadhili tariqa. My Sheikh and Grand Sheikh are both close to Habib ‘Umar ibn al-Hafeedh and Habib ‘Ali al-Jifry of Hadramaut. Habib Muhammad bin Mustafa was close to me and my time with the ‘Alawi sadat confirmed for me that I wish to be a sufi or try to be at least. I eventually took the Shadhili path which connects to the ‘Alawiyya at Abu Madyan Rahimahumullah. I have studied Arabic and I am very interested in taking care of these manuscripts and tapes or at least I can find those qualified. Please contact me at your earliest convenience. Wa ‘alaykum us Salaam brother ‘abd al-Rahman,As-Sayyid Muhammad bin Mustafa, the beloved grandson of our shaykh al-Habib Ahmad Mash-hur bin Taha al-Haddad Rady Allahu ‘Anhu passed away in Shawwal 1423. He led Taraweh prayers in the month of Ramadan in Masjid Birikau in Mombasa, fell ill after the 27th taraweh and passed away a few days after ‘Id ul Fitr. May Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala keep him with al-Habib, Amin, and raise their darajat, and keep us together with them, Amin.
He was laid to rest in the graveyard opposite the Coast General Hospital in Mombasa along with Sharif Shatry, a well-known shaykh in Kenya.
He was a constant companion of our shaykh and acquired from him his noble qualities in immense measure. Even at his young age, the respect and love that he gave and received was admirable. Each of our ‘Alawi sadat is a Hujjat ul Islam, the proof of Islam. When you meet them, you are convinced that Islam is the true religion.
He had just been married and was blessed with a son, and so acquired the kunya “Abu Numay”.
Just imagine the sorrow our mashayikh are feeling at his loss. It is impossible for you to hold back your tears.
He studied under al-Allamah Ustadh Muhammad Sharif Sa’id al-Beidh in Mambrui, Kenya.
He started a madrasa in Mombasa which is growing and flourishing Alhamdu Lillah and is now looked after by Sharif Fadhil Abbas Jahadhmy.
I am glad you are in the Shadhili tariqa. All spiritual paths lead to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala.
Sayyid Muhammad bin Mustafa has compiled a book of the talks (dars) of our Shaykh al-Habib Ahmad Mash-hur bin Taha al-Haddad in Arabic. We will be posting you a copy InshaAllah.
