Sayyid Omar Abdallah

SAYYID OMAR ABDALLAH

Assalamu alaykum,

I live in Zanzibar, Tanzania, and am from the al-Jamalullayl family. I am a grand daughter of As-Sayyid Al-Alawi bin AbdulWahhab bin Hasan and Sayyid Omar Abdallah, who both have their origins in Hadhramaut, Yemen, through Comoro Islands.

I would like you to help me in increasing my religious knowledge.

Assalamu alaykum
Sakina Ahmed.

Wa ‘alaykum us Salam sister Sakina,

We are very happy to hear from you. May Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala keep you healthy and happy and may he fulfil all your good wishes, Amin.

Maashaa Allah, your ancestry is blessed. It is well-known that Sayyid Omar Abdallah did a great job as Da’i, propagating Islam in many countries, especially in Tanzania and U.K. He was well-known as an ‘aalim (learned scholar) in the Ba Alawi tradition, who explained about shari’a (sacred Muslim law), tariqa (the spiritual path of Islam) and about tasawwuf (Islamic spiritual culture). When he was in Kenya, he used to translate the talks of our Shaykh al-Habib Ahmad Mash-hur bin Taha al-Haddad from Arabic into English. He was in great demand as a speaker, especially on occassions such as the opening ceremony of a masjid. For example, he gave a talk at the opening ceremony of Masjid Quba in Nairobi, named after the famous Masjid Quba in Madina. The book Adhkar wa Awrad was published in Tanzania with his blessing. Shaykh Mohamed Mlamali Adam translated Miftah al-Jannah of al-Habib in consultation with him. Al-Habib wrote about him so movingly when he passed away that the muridin (loving disciples) shed tears. May Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala raise his darajat (spiritual stature) even higher, Amin.

With many salams and du’a.
Siddiq.

IN SEARCH OF ISLAMIC KNOWLEDGE

Assalamu-alaikum

I am a Ghanaian Muslim living in Accra, Ghana.

My prayer to Allah has always been that He should give me the knowledge and understsnding of Islam. Amen Dear Brother in Islam, I want to learn Islam. Please help me to locate a good Muslim ‘aalim, a teacher who will welcome me as a student and teach me.

I am ever ready to travel to any part of the world in search of this knowledge.

Baba Tanimu.

Wa ‘alaykum us Salam Baba Tanimu.

May Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala reward you for your keen desire to seek useful knowledge about Islam wherever it can be obtained. Your intention is to follow the teachings of the Hadith of our Beloved Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu ‘alayhi wa Sallam.

I am sure there are many learned ‘ulama in Ghana and Nigeria from whom you have already benefited. If you wish to venture out a bit more, perhaps you can visit Kenya and contact Sharif Abdul Qadir as-Saggaf in Masjid Shaykh Jundani in Mombasa. Once you contact him, he will guide you in fulfilling all your noble intentions. You will come into contact with most of the ‘ulama of Kenya, as well as visiting ‘ulama from other countries. You will meet muridin (loving disciples) of our Shaykh al-Habib Ahmad Mash-hur bin Taha al-Haddad.

You will be in the company of sincere Muslim devotees who love Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala and His Beloved Prophet Muhammad al-Mustafa Sallallahu ‘alayhi wa Sallam.

With many salams and du’a.

Thanks a lot ya akhi. May Allah bless you and give success. I need more Sufi books as well. Please do send me a list so I can order in Qaadiriyya and Rifaaiyyah tariqah. We don’t have those books here in New Zealand. Thanks.

Wassalaam wa fee Amaanillah

Farook Ali.

Assalamu ‘alaykum Brother Farook,

You are most welcome.

Please go through our catalogue and indicate the books you need and we will post them to you, InshaAllah.

With many salams and du’a.

Kassim.

Salaam to you ya akhi,

Thanks for your reply. Let me tell you about myself. I am Farook Ali originally from Fiji Islands in the Pacific. My forefathers were from Kerala, India who migrated to Fiji. Most of the Muslims in Fiji today are Sunnis. Our forefathers left us with Sahih Sunni Aqeedah and the Sufi tradition with three main orders as far as I have learnt. They left us with Qaadiriyyah, Rifaaiyyah and Alawiyyah tariqah and I pray to Allah for their maghfirat. In Fiji, there is great lack of Islamic knowledge especially Tasawwuf. But by Allah’s Grace they still do Sufi practice. I personally have great interest in acquiring Islamic knowledge and spreading it in my family and around. I serve our people here in New Zealand and do Mawlid Shareef and Qaadiri Dhikr and other functions. I Still think I am not knowledgeable enough so I need lots of Sufi and Islamic books for myself and my people here. I have got Sunni Books in English from Turkey. And I need more Sunni books. I recently got a book from a Sunni Madrasa in South Africa on Seerah. Please send me all Sufi books possible. Also, I am looking for a Rifaai Raatib book in Arabic. I like reading the Qaseedah and annually we do a Rifaai Urs here with great respect. I want to go further in this Tariqah. I have some books in English of Shaykh Abdul Qadir Jilani and I have some pages of Rifaai Naseehah from internet. I love your site and I gain a lot of knowledge out of it and I spread it among my family and people. I want to give every bit of my time in this dunya for Allah and His Deen and for the love of Nabi al-Karim Sallallahu ‘alayhi wa Sallam.

I want to organise a small library type of thing and invite Sunnis to come and acquire knowledge of Islam. Please reply if someone can help me through this fee Sabilillah. I am registering an organisation here very soon under ‘’Sawaadul A’zam Islamic Propagation of New Zealand ‘’ and trying to arrange an Aalim from India who can work with us. Please make du’a. I will go through the web and check the books. I can read English, Urdu and Hindi and I am learning Arabic language now slowly. But I read Arabic fluently. All is Allah’s Mercy.

Shukran, wassalaam wa fee Amaanillah.

Farook Ali.

Wa ‘alaykum us Salam Brother Farook.

May Allah, The Glorified and the Exalted, continue to shower His Mercy on all of us, may He fill our hearts with nur (spiritual light), and may He give us the love of His Beloved Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu ‘alayhi wa Sallam, Amin.

May Allah fulfil all your noble intentions of spreading the religion of Islam in New Zealand, Amin.

Insha Allah, we will be posting you more books of dhikr and qasaid in Tariqa al-Qadiriyya, and Tariqa al-Rifaiyya.

With many salams and du’a.

Kassim.
