ZIKR OF ALLAH
Allah Sub'hanahu wa Ta'ala says in the Holy Qur'an Kareem:

Fadhkurunee Adhkurkum Washkurulee wa Laa Takfurun.

Therefore, do my Zikr (remember me), I will remember you, and be thankful to Me, and do not be ungrateful to Me. (2:152)

Recitation of Qur'an Kareem, Asma-ul-Husna (the Most Beautiful Names of Allah), Dua (invocation to Allah), Kalimaat (declarations of belief), Tasbeehaat (Glorifying Allah) is all Zikr of Allah, while Salawaat alar-Rasul, sending blessings on the Holy Prophet Muhammad Mustafa Sallallahu alaihi wa Sallam is Zikr-e-Habib, the Zikr of the Beloved of Allah.

The Holy Prophet Sallallahu alaihi wa Sallam received many of these Duas, Kalimaat and Tasbeehaat as revelation in the form of the Qur'an. Examples of these are:

Dua:

Raabana aatina fiddunya hasanatan wa fil akhirati hasanatan wa qina adhaaban-naar.

O Our Lord, give us good in this world and give us good in the Hereafter and save us from the punishment of the fire. (2:201)

Kalima:

Laa Ilaha Illallahu Muhammad-ur-Rasulullah.

No one is worthy of worship but Allah
Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. (47:19, 48:29)

Tasbeeh:

Laa Ilaha Illa Anta Sub'haanaka Innee Kuntu Minadh-dhaalimeena.

There is no one worthy of worship but You. Glory be to You; surely, I am one of the unjust. (21:87)

Besides the Zikr in the Qur'an Kareem, the Beloved Prophet Sallallahu alaihi wa Sallam overflowed with even more Zikr as he opened his heart out to Allah, imploring, supplicating, invoking, glorifying, praising, and lauding Him. These Azkaar (plural of Zikr) are found in his blessed Hadith Shareef. We learn from the Hadith Shareef, for example, that Rasulullah Sallallahu alaihi wa Sallam taught Sayyidah Fatima Rady Allahu Anha to read the Tasbeeh Sub'hanallah (33 times), al-Hamdu Lillah (33 times) and Allahu Akbar (34 times). Thus, it is sunnah to specify the number of times each Tasbeeh is to be recited.
